It will take some time to get back into the routines of daily life at home.
You will find your own ways to make this happen, but here are some suggestions.
- Get involved in
something new – with some friends, or on your own
- Take on some
projects around the house.
With your partner / spouse:
- Spend some
quality time together.
If you have kids, give your partner some time off from caring for them. It’s good for them to have a break even if it’s just to sit at home alone and watch a DVD or take a trip to the hairdresser.
- Ask your partner / spouse what she / he would like to do –
take some time to listen – make a fuss of them. It’s been hard work for them too.
With your kids:
- Spend some time with the kids, even just for a short time to start with. Go to the park, ride your bike, take them to soccer / swimming / dancing class and stay to watch them.
- Have the kids help you with jobs around the house
- Remember your kids may have changed while you were away - their routines will be different and their friends may be different.
