What we do
As the needs of soldiers and the Army community change so do ARTF services and programs.
To mark the 60th anniversary of the ARTF in 2007, the Trustees undertook a review of the ARTF's activities to ensure it was attuned to the current needs and circumstances of soldiers and the Army community.
This led to a significant enhancement of ARTF programs and services. The ARTF has:
- Increased the size of low-cost loans to soldiers to $6,000, and halved the Fund Maintenance Contribution to 2%
- Made it easier for soldiers to apply for a loan through a simple online facility on this website
- Introduced Returning Home – a program to support and assist solders to reconnect with their partners, families and the community after prolonged separation.
- Launched the Army Cares / Army Listens website - the website hosts a discussion forum where the Army community can post their ideas, experiences and suggestions about ways to reconnect and re-engage after prolonged absences and separation.
The ARTF also provides Hardship grants in some circumstances. These are non-repayable grants to soldiers and their dependents who have particular financial needs.
